Humboldt Broncos Defenseman Ryan Straschnitzki recently found out he is paralyzed from the chest down, after suffering injuries as a result of the fatal bus accident that took the lives of 15 of his teammates, coaches, and staff. He then told his parents that he will be devoting his time to sledge hockey, with the goal of making the Canadian Olympic team.
Calgary Herald- “He just looked at me and his mother and he goes, ‘Well, I’m going to get onto the Olympic sledge hockey team,'” Straschnitzki’s father, Tom, told the newspaper in a story published Monday. “He’s an amazing kid, that boy.”
